Pre-College Programs for High School Students
Temple University provides many pre-college opportunities for students to explore academic areas of interest across the university while they are still in high school. Click on any of the programs below to learn more.
Interdisciplinary Programs
Temple Summer Academy
Get a head start on your college career by earning academic credit and a Temple tuition grant through this four-week program. Students take one college-level course and two non-credit workshops over four weeks, and can choose from a wide variety of subject areas. This program includes curriculum choices from nearly all of Temple's schools and colleges offering undergraduate majors. Students entering grades 11 and 12.
Temple Pre-College Workshops
Explore a wide variety of academic areas available at Temple University through these two-week, non-credit workshops. Students choose a morning and an afternoon session in variuos subjects. This program includes curriculum choices from nearly all of Temple's schools and colleges offering undergraduate majors. Students in or entering grades 9, 10, 11, or 12.
Temple Continuing Studies
Get started on earning college credit while still in high schol through the Office of Continuing Studies. Undergraduate courses are available in a wide variety of subject areas in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The credits students earn will become part of their academic record, and high school students are eligible for a special reduced tuition rate. Students in or entering grades 11 or 12, or students who have been admitted to Temple and plan to start in the fall semester.
Cecil B. Moore Scholars Program
The Cecil B. Moore Scholars Program offers students from North Philadelphia coordinated pre-college preparation, admit students in cohorts for focused campus advising and mentoring, and award scholarships that cover base tuition at Temple. The program is meant exclusively for students living in the eight North Philadelphia zip codes surrounding Temple who attend Philadelphia public (district or charter) high schools. Students in or entering grade 12.
Subject-Specific Programs
Tyler School of Art and Architecture
Create inspiring works of art in the Tyler School of Art and Architecture's world-class studios and learn under the guidance of professional working artist-educators. Programs include Portfolio Boot Camp, Architecture Institute, Pre-College Summer Studios, Environmental Design Institute, and more. Students in or entering grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 (varies by program).
Fox School of Business
Earn college credits as a high school junior or senior through the B4USoar program, a unique college readiness and mentoring program for Philadelphia public and charter school students. This tuition-free program will allow you to take courses after school in a variety of subject areas in business and beyond. Students in grades 11 or 12.
College of Education and Human Development
Start your career as an educator through Temple Education Scholars, a year-long dual enrollment program for high school seniors in the School District of Philadelphia. If you live in Philadelphia and will be a first-generation college student, you can also get ready for college as early as 9th grade through the Upward Bound program.
College of Engineering
Explore the possibilities in bio, civil, environmental, electrical, and mechanical engineering through hands-on projects and workshops. Programs include Women's Engineering Explorations (WE2) and the Robotics Summer Program. Students entering grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 (varies by program).
Klein College of Media and Communications
Investigate and report on current events in a variety of areas, or explore career opportunities in advertising. Summer programs are available in health journalism, sports journalism, broadcast news, advertising, and more. Students entering grades 11 and 12.
Lewis Katz School of Medicine
In the Mini Med School program, students who are traditionally underrepresented in medicine will attend mock medical school classes, urban bioethics classes, receive CPR training, career and academic advising, professional development, in additional a culturally-relevant social environment with similarly motivated peers. Boyer College of Music and Dance
Develop your skills as a singer, songwriter, composer, or musician through a wide variety of summer and youth programs. Programs include the Summer Songwriting Intensive, the Summer Dance Intensive, the Summer Music Theory Intensive, and more. Program eligibility depends on age and musical experience (varies by program).
College of Science and Technology
Investigate, discover, and experiment with summer programs for high school students in biology, chemistry, forensics, and more. Programs include the STEM-UP Leadership Experience, the Teen Research Initiative Program (TRIP), and more. Students entering grades 8-12 (varies by program).
School of Theater, Film, and Media Arts
Learn how to tell stories through film from developing the initial story through the final edit. Programs include the Reel Girls: High School Film Workshop and the Summer Digital Filmmaking Intensive. Students entering grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 (varies by program).
University College
Prepare for college through test prep, math and science programs, and more. Programs include SAT Test Prep and the Temple Science and Math Scholars Program(link sends e-mail) for High School Students at our Ambler campus. Students entering grades 10, 11, and 12 (varies by program).

Center for American Language and Culture
Study at Temple as an international student, and meet other high school students from around the world. Programs for high school students include EducationUSA Academy and TCALC online. Students entering grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 (varies by program).
Center for Social Policy and Community Development
Prepare for life after high school, including college and career, through programs like the Achieving Independence Center, College Bound Academy, WorkReady, and Youth Employment Project. Program eligibility varies by age.
