Course Description

This introductory course takes a fundamental approach in assisting the beginning real estate student with lectures on agency law; listing contracts; deeds; estates and property interests; agreements of sale; mortgage financing, FHA, VA and conventional; title insurance and settlements. All basic real estate terminology and techniques are introduced and explained. Designed for prospective real estate salespersons and individuals seeking practical real estate knowledge.

This class is an instructor-led course that takes place virtually over Zoom; students will receive a link via email prior to the start of class.

DON'T ZOOM & DRIVE: For personal safety and out of respect to the instructor, students are not permitted to drive automobiles or operate heavy machinery while on Zoom for class. REI reserves the right to remove students from class sessions if this occurs.

Required Access to University Systems: You will receive a separate email titled "Temple University Systems Access Instructions," which will prompt you to create a separate username/password for accessing course materials online through Canvas, the university's learning management system. Please contact us if you do not receive this email. 

Real Estate Institute Refund Policy: A student may withdraw from class at any time prior to the start of the second day of class and receive a full tuition refund. A student's request to withdraw must be in writing. Students may also transfer their enrollments to future sessions. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after the start of the second day of class - students can still request a transfer of their enrollment to a future session after the second class session however no refund will be issued at any point after.

One textbook is required for both Fundamentals and Practice courses. It is "Modern Real Estate Practice in Pennsylvania", 14th Edition. You may purchase the book online before the course begins through Dearborn.
